Description: First, pictures of pre-war Hanover are shown, followed by the result of the Second World War, the rubble landscape of Hanover. Then the beginning and the individual steps of the reconstruction until the end of 1950 are described: Clearance work, the production of building blocks from rubble material, the planning competition for the reconstruction of the city center, the start of housing construction as well as the new construction or reconstruction of the city center and of central and significant Hanoverian buildings such as the Niedersachsenhalle, the Funkhaus, the Marktkirche, the Kuppelsaal, the opera house, etc. In between there are shots of the commercial, sports and cultural life: Of the industrial fair, the six-day race, Maschsee regattas, ballet and garden theater in Herrenhausen.
